A classic British comfort meal that comes together in about 25 minutes. Good quality banger sausages make all the difference here. Brown them in the pan, then build a rich onion gravy right in the same skillet using the drippings. Serve over creamy mashed potatoes with mixed vegetables on the side.
Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add Bangers and cook, turning, until browned all over and cooked through, about 8 minutes.
Remove Bangers to a plate and turn heat down to medium.
You want about 2 tbsp of fat left in the pan. If you have less, add butter.
Add onion and garlic to the skillet and cook until golden brown, about 4 minutes.
Add flour and stir through. Cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly.
Add about 3/4 cup of the beef broth and stir into the onion mixture to form a thick paste. Add the remaining broth and stir until smooth. If lumpy, use a whisk. Add soy sauce if using.
Simmer, stirring, for 2 to 3 minutes until the gravy thickens slightly. It will thicken more as it sits.
Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Serve Bangers with plenty of gravy over mashed potatoes with mixed vegetables on the side.
